Hiss of Windsor

Prince Harry and Prince William kibbitz with an African rock python during a visit to Botswana today. I suppose that's what one does when they go to Botswana.

The Princes will also visit Lesotho and South Africa in support of their favorite charities... and then they'll stop in Cape Town to see England vs. Algeria in the World Cup.

The rock python rarely attacks humans, but the species can easily kill an adult by constriction.

Drizzling in L.A.

L.A. is having a rare May drizzle... and Betty Deuce shows a cheery style for a bit of inclement weather!

That's how she looked at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Friday.

This is one granny look I don't expect to see Lady Gaga adapting.

Betty Deuce Dresses Down

Her Majesty, Betty Deuce, turned down the glamor to attend the Windsor Horse Show on Thursday. Gone are the fabulous hat, the contact lenses and sparkling brooch. All that remains of her regal status are her sexy stockings and sensible shoes.

And what are you wearing today?

Animals Unite to Protect Betty White

Tonga the elephant and Leo the monkey called a news conference at the L.A. Zoo to announce the formation of "Animals United to Protect Betty White."

"She's done so much for us, we just thought we'd do something for her," communicated Tonga through a pointing board.

"Now they're starting Facebook groups to get her to host the Oscars and Emmys. It's crazy, she's 88 for crissakes!" said Leo, adding, "Leave Betty ALONE!"

Where the Wild Thing Is

"Precious" starlet Gabourey Sidibe as she appeared on "The View" couch yesterday (sitting next to she whose name must not be mentioned), and an illustration from Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are."

Lovely creatures and one hideous beast.

Happy Birthday, Beulah Bondi

Character actress Beulah Bondi was born in Chicago on this day in 1888. You likely know her best as Jimmy Stewart's mother, Ma Bailey, in "It's a Wonderful Life." She's terrifying in the "Life without George" sequence as the operator of a run-down boarding house.

She played Jimmy Stewart's mother in four films.
(The other three are: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Of Human Hearts, and Vivacious Lady.)

Here she is, singing and dancing in 1948's, "So Dear to My Heart," a Disney country yarn with folksinger Burl Ives.

Beulah made her first Hollywood film "Street Scene" in 1931 -- she was 42, and went on to appear in over 70, with her last role on TV's "The Waltons." She also played Mrs. Greer in "The Snake Pit," who suffered from delusions of grandeur.

Her "Walk of Fame" star is at 1730 N. Vine St. (near Capitol Records).

She died New Year's Day 1981 at age 92 of injuries sustained in her three-story Hollywood Hills home when she fell over her cat.

"What distinguishes the real actor from the pseudo is the passionate desire to know what is going on in the hearts and minds of people."

Zara in the Rain

That stylish blonde is Zara Phillips, 28, eldest granddaughter of Betty Deuce, seen on day four of the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival. Her mother is Princess Anne, the Princess Royal.

Zara is in a relationship with rugby player Mike Tindall, who was busted last January for drunk driving.

Zara, an equine physiotherapist, broke a collarbone in a fall from a horse in 2008. The horse broke its neck and had to be put down.

Camilla -- Dog Hat Spring

Spring is here. And it's a Prague Spring for the royals.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Chuck depart from a church in Prague, herself with a spring bouquet held in her delicately gloved grasp.

The duchess is trying another new lipstick shade, which complements her canine-like chapeau.

Does she keep getting lovelier, or is it just me? Don't answer too quickly. And now, here's Audra McDonald with Rodgers and Hart's "Spring is Here." Mush!
