Lakers Are a Girl's Best Friend

Dyan Cannon, as she appeared after the Lakers win on Thursday, and Carol Channing.

So alike, only one married a gay icon and one is one.

Flesh-Tone Lipstick Fail, Part 3484

Babs, can ya hear me? That lipstick isn't working! I mean, I can forgive the spackled base, but please!

That's how Streisand looked on the red carpet last night for stepson Josh Brolin's "Jonah Hex" movie premiere.

And it's time to cut that hair. Thanks, and have a great weekend! Tune in tomorrow for Chexy's Saturday Matinee!

Original Queen of All Media Honored

The endlessly fabulous Ruta Lee (left) embraces grandmother of gossip Rona Barrett (allegedly 73) at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, which staged a tribute to Barrett, who now mostly attends to her business of growing lavender on her ranch near Santa Barbara for products that benefit charity.

Her 1974 autobiography, "Miss Rona," began with this sentence:
"Just an inch, Miss Rona, just let me put it in an inch!"

Betty Deuce: Buttoned Up

This is what you see if you've been a naughty princess, and you know you have been.

Betty Deuce focuses on Cabinet Secretary Gus O'Donnell during a visit to the Cabinet Office, where Her Majesty met with some civil servants, which may explain her cranky look.

When You Find a Look That Works, Keep It

Singer Nana Mouskouri has sold over 300 million records worldwide since the mid-1960s. She toured with Harry Belafonte and sang with Elvis. Now 75 and retired (really retired, not "Cher" retired), she appeared in Germany last night at a benefit for Africa.

Still fabulous.

Here she is on a French TV show in the '60s with some weird puppet.

Betty Deuce Made a Mess

I don't know what's going on with Betty's dress. It looks like she got splashed by some spanakopita at the royal buffet for King Constantine of Greece's 70th birthday party in London. Grease from Greece!

A Pair of Queens and a King

The vision in buttery yellow is Queen Sonja of Norway, welcomed Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands (the one wearing part of a Volkswagen on her head). That's Sonja's hubby, King Harald V, as seen at the National Monument in Oslo on Tuesday.

Betty Deuce -- A Feather in Her Cap

Good Queen Betty Deuce doesn't look completely convinced that her hat is working, and indeed, it looks like something to be worn to Shrek's wedding, but Betty wore it to greet her peeps at the 150th Anniversary of the Eton Combined Cadet Force, whatever that is.

The brooch, BTW, is the Kent Amethyst Brooch #2, a giant
hexagonal-cut amethyst surrounded by diamond sunrays.

Goodbye, Art Linkletter

Republican stalwart, TV pioneer and noted bastard Art Linkletter (seen in upper bubble), who emceed the opening of Disneyland in 1955, has croaked at age 97.

Best known for his "House Party" show and "Kids Say the Darndest Things" show and books, Linkletter (seen above with the Nixons and Walt Disney) was one of the wealthiest men in show business.

He leaves his wife of 74 years, Lois, and two children.

Linkletter was predeceased by three children; Jack, who died at age 70 in 2007; Robert, who died in a 1980 car wreck; and Diane, who jumped out a window in 1969.

Betty Deuce -- Lookin' Rosy!

Her Majesty, Betty Deuce, visited the Cloughton blacksmith shop in North Yorkshire, where the queen has her horses shod, and her daughter-in-law Camilla gets her hair done.

It was announced yesterday that Betty will be attending Wimbledon in late June, for the first time in 33 years. Tennis is dull.

Betty Deuce Dresses Down

Her Majesty, Betty Deuce, turned down the glamor to attend the Windsor Horse Show on Thursday. Gone are the fabulous hat, the contact lenses and sparkling brooch. All that remains of her regal status are her sexy stockings and sensible shoes.

And what are you wearing today?

Betty Deuce -- Laughing at Funny Hats

Her Majesty, Betty Deuce, as seen chortling at a funny hat on Major Paul Champness (Captain of the Pikemen & Musketeers) while on a visit to HAC Armoury House on Wednesday.

According to The Monarchist, "The Company of Pikemen and Musketeers are veteran members of the Honourable Artillery Company, the oldest regiment in the British Army. The HAC can trace its history as far back as 1296, and received a Royal Charter from Henry VIII on 25 August 1537. The pikemen and musketeers wear the uniform of the period of Charles I and can be seen at state and civic occasions and serve as the Lord Mayor of London's bodyguard."

Betty Deuce: Blue and a Brooch

Betty Deuce wore her eye color blue for a visit to Norwich Cathedral. She also wore her fourth favorite brooch, the Jardine Star, a gift to Her Majesty from Lady Jardine.

Yes, there are people who keep track of which royal jewels are worn -- and when and how often. Betty wore this brooch 83 times between 1990 and 2008. It appears to be at least 30 or 40 carats, total.

Happy Birthday, Beulah Bondi

Character actress Beulah Bondi was born in Chicago on this day in 1888. You likely know her best as Jimmy Stewart's mother, Ma Bailey, in "It's a Wonderful Life." She's terrifying in the "Life without George" sequence as the operator of a run-down boarding house.

She played Jimmy Stewart's mother in four films.
(The other three are: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Of Human Hearts, and Vivacious Lady.)

Here she is, singing and dancing in 1948's, "So Dear to My Heart," a Disney country yarn with folksinger Burl Ives.

Beulah made her first Hollywood film "Street Scene" in 1931 -- she was 42, and went on to appear in over 70, with her last role on TV's "The Waltons." She also played Mrs. Greer in "The Snake Pit," who suffered from delusions of grandeur.

Her "Walk of Fame" star is at 1730 N. Vine St. (near Capitol Records).

She died New Year's Day 1981 at age 92 of injuries sustained in her three-story Hollywood Hills home when she fell over her cat.

"What distinguishes the real actor from the pseudo is the passionate desire to know what is going on in the hearts and minds of people."

Betty Deuce: It's Not Easy Being Queen

If you've never run into an old queen on a train, here's what it looks like. Can't you just smell the lilacs?

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is seen sitting in the compartment of a steam train on her way to visit North Wales.

As you can see in this photo of Betty on her arrival, she looks mighty cheery in pink!

Morphers

Joan Rivers, 76, as she appeared at a Friars Club Roast last night, and former "Lizzie McGuire" star Hilary Duff, 22.

Eventually, one of them will look just like the other.
