Beloved American painter and illustrator Norman Rockwell was born on this day in 1894. This illustration, called "The Gossip," is one of my favorites. Among his over 300 Saturday Evening Post covers, was this creation of Rosie the Riveter.
Rockwell was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor of the USA, for his "affectionate portraits of our country."
